2001-08-10 - 12:37 a.m. How could anyone not be happy today. In Melbourne that is. The weather was absolutely beautiful, the sun and clear skies, if nothing else, made my day. I tailored myself accordingly for this glorious day, I wore no black(!), listened to happy music(!!!), took a stroll down Chapel Street, had coffee in an open courtyard, and thought only happy thoughts. I realised that a good day made me think about all my favourite things, something I find a bit of a luxury when day to day life requires constant briskness, with no chance to indulge in wishful thinking. Here are some of those things. Indulge me. Please. Eugenie's Favourite Things: *A good strong latte *Laundry straight out of the tumble dryer. There's something about the warmth and fresh smells. *Fallen maple leaves *My mutt Milo *Brahms' Intermezzo in A Major *White orchids *Honesty (because telepathy IS rare) and compassion (especially to strangers) *Stars *Coloured tissue paper. Not the stuff you blow your nose with. What you wrap presents with. *Strawberries and icing sugar *Freckled noses (not mine) *A summer's day at the beach *Freshly baked baguettes *A good film soundtrack. I'm thinking Carter Burwell and Ryuchi Sakamoto. *Most things purple *Clever album titles. I particularly liked *Heaven or Las Vegas* (Cocteau Twins).
